Sophie Lord

Sophie is musicals mad and mostly wishes she could sing through everyday events. Unfortunately she can't fit an entire orchestra into the back of her teensy Nissan singing along with the radio will just have to do (for now).

Sophie's fire for the theatre was lit after watching a local amateur production of Oliver! as kid and she hasn't wavered since. Though her resume states her first show was Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, her first starring role was as Mary in the school nativity when she was just a whipper snapper at the age of 3. Snaffling the good roles, even from an early age.

Eager to star in productions that weren't necessarily bible stories, Sophie went on to study Drama and Musical Theatre at Pendleton College and she was soon picked up by Carnival Cruise lines to be their Lead Production Vocalist, sailing the seven seas, seeing the sights and singing her heart out. A lady living the dream.

Now back in the Valley, Sophie is still filling the air with her beautiful voice on stage whenever possible and waxing lyrical about all things musical theatre on her Sunday night show, 'From Stage To Screen'.

When not hitting her spot on stage, she's watching others do it and is (only very slighty ..... that might be a lie) obsessed with all things Drag and is a huge supporter of the Drag Community. Her down time is equally special though as she spends her time snuggled up on the sofa with her gorgeous daughter Esther, watching Disney films and eating cake. Then maybe a bit more cake. Cake is very important in the Lord household.

You can hear Sophie every Sunday evening for her show From Stage to Screen.

My Musical Moment:

Dusty Springfield - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - LISTEN

It's just the best song to belt out and her voice is really something to aspire to. She's so soulful and her songs are always so heartfelt.

Kiss - Detroit Rock City - LISTEN

We went to see their final tour and this was the opening number. We were so close to the stage I could feel every drum beat in my chest and nearly lost my left eyebrow to all the pyrotechnics they used but it was totally worth it.

Because they are just so FLIPPIN' GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
