Rossendale Scouts and Rossendale Male Voice Choir will take to the stage at Bridgewater Hall

The 2nd Rossendale Scout Group Band and Rossendale Male Voice Choir will be supporting the world-famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall for a rousing summer concert.

Tickets are now on sale for the concert which will take place on Friday 7 June 2019 at 7.30pm with all proceeds going to East Lancashire Hospice.

Conductor Graham Helm, who will lead the 2nd Rossendale Scout Group Band, has been a keen supporter of East Lancashire Hospice since his wife Paula passed away in 2014.

Paula, a former teacher battled pancreatic cancer and spend her final days at the hospice, so it holds a special place in his heart.

Graham said: “Her time in the hospice was special; a place where the only rules are: there are no rules.

“The hospice gave us time, privacy and warmth. Time for loved ones to say their goodbyes, privacy for me to spend the last three days at my beautiful wife's bedside and the warmth that came through the dignity offered to us by staff and volunteers.”

Since Paula’s death, Graham has raised thousands of pounds for charity in her memory – and in particular the hospice.

He added: “It’s a really exciting opportunity for the scouts to perform in the finest concert hall in the North of England and to incorporate what we all love doing – making music, performing and entertaining, and also generate significant funds for the hospice.

“The band have performed with the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass band – but as part of bigger joint concerts. This time we are on the bill alongside a world-famous band and their worlworld-classoists.”

Tickets range from £17.50 and £22.50 each and can be booked by visiting the Bridgewater Hall website or call 0161 907 9000.
